Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a lecture room?
These are the room-specific questions we settle during survey and design.
What is needed to record lectures for remote or later viewing?
A lecture-capture design combines the presenter's microphone, programme audio, camera and presentation feed before sending them to the recording or streaming platform. We decide whether the output needs picture-in-picture, switching between sources or a clean feed for later editing. The room also needs a clear privacy and recording indicator so presenters and students know when capture is active.
How do you keep a presenter visible while they move?
Presenter-tracking cameras can follow movement across a defined teaching area, while a separate wide shot protects the recording if tracking is briefly lost. We set boundaries so the camera does not follow someone leaving the stage or pick up the audience unexpectedly. The correct lens and mounting position matter as much as the tracking software, especially in long rooms.
Can a lecture room support in-person and remote questions?
Yes. The design needs a reliable way to bring audience speech into the call, such as ceiling microphones covering the seating area, designated discussion microphones or a managed handheld system. Remote voices must also be reinforced in the room without feeding back into those microphones. We test the full conversation path rather than treating streaming as one-way video.
Do lecture rooms need assistive listening?
Many teaching and public-facing spaces need an assistive-listening provision, but the applicable requirement depends on occupancy, use and the project scope. We can integrate hearing loop, RF, infrared or network-based listening with the room's main audio system and coordinate receiver locations and signage. The project team or code consultant should confirm the formal compliance requirement for the building.
